Getting to know one Another....

The last couple of days have passed quickly!  We have been spending some time getting to know one another.  We have visited the zoo, eaten dinner at the "big" Lido, Cili Pica and Double Coffee.  We have been to Stockmans and the movies.  We have ridden the tram and walked miles!!!!  It is such an interesting place and as Americans we stand out.....I think we must smell American...he he!  Some little boys yesterday laughed at us in McDonalds and asked us if we were American....we said yes and they said we know...your clothes!  I don't think that they quiet understand why we have these two Latvian boys with us!     Tonight, Peter and I took some time by ourselves and went to McDonalds.  Dad and David stayed at the apartment and rested. It was nice to spend some time with Peter.  I think he was feeling a little homesick.  His spirits were better after dinner.  This has to be hard for them as they leave their home and say goodbye to their culture.  Please pray for all of us as we wait for our time here to pass.  We found an English worship service for Sunday and we are going to attend.  I have been listening to my praise music trying to fill my soul.  I pray that God opens the door to minister here.....it is a dry and thirsty land.  I have such a love for this country and pray that God will open doors for mission work here.
I love my boys and I thank God that He led us to them.  Please pray for them by name as they make such a transition.  I am a true believer in prayer.  I know that I serve an amazing God who can move mountains.  I am living proof of His work.....God is the God of the "fat chance"!!!

"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is ; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary."   Psalm 63: 1-2

  3. Praying from the Atlanta area-we don't know any of you but have been praying for you all for a couple months since we learned of David and the situation. We most certainly will pray for each of your sons by name in this transition

  4. Amen to that! To God be the glory...I'm just new on your blog, but I can sense just by reading your first article that this blog has a heart and I want to follow every bit of your story...Thank you for sharing. I am a filipina mom and a believer through the power of prayer. If you pray earnestly, it will be given....

  5. Penny, I am so excited for you and Mike and the boys. I am enjoying watching your journey unfold into treasures and memories. I have been sharing with Chandler what you and Mike are doing. He has been very interrested to know how it all works. It has been quite challenging for him to grasp the concept that not everyone is born into a loving family and given opportunities to grow in the Word and become great men and women of Christ.
I admire your willingness to open up your heart and your home to give these boys realisticaly the Dream that they have only dreamt til now.
I have always loved your vibrant personality and sense of trust in the Lord....now I can add to that ADVENTURE, for sure:)
I know our paths crossed a short time ago and for that I will be eternally greatful. For I know that without you in my life I would have missed an important component of my own journey with Matthew. I know God used you to encourage me during a low time in our marriage and I know without you I would probably not be married today. And not just married....but HAPPILY married and serving the LORD. Thank you for that in case I have not told you lately:)
I love you and will be praying for your NEW family. I can not wait to meet the boys and introduce them to Chandler. We eagerly await your return HOME.
    Love Rachel
